An Empty Page

“I saw that my life was a vast glowing empty page and I could do anything I wanted.”

― Jack Kerouac

Our two natures; one wants to advance; the other wants to pull us back. The one we concentrate on and develop determines what we will become. Our each action is like a selecting and holding a web of life, each small decision, each choice is important. It makes one of these natures strong, everytime. Putting on weight. There is always choices to make and with that the direction of the road goes. It’s what life is about.

Moving Water — Rumi

Something very deep & profound.

When  you do things from your soul, you feel a river
moving in you, a joy.
When actions come from another section, the feeling
disappears.  Don’t let
others lead you.  They may be blind or, worse, vultures.
Reach for the rope
of God.  And what is that?  Putting aside self-will.
Because of willfulness
people sit in jail, the trapped bird’s wings are tied,
fish sizzle in the skillet.
The anger of police is willfulness.  You’ve seen a magistrate
inflict visible punishment.  Now
see the invisible.  If you could leave your selfishness, you
would see how you’ve
been torturing your soul.  We are born and live inside black water in a well.
How could we know what an open field of sunlight is? Don’t
insist on going where

The Truth

“If you shut up truth and bury it under the ground,
it will but grow, and gather to itself such explosive power that the day it bursts through
will blow up everything in its way.”

~Emile Zola

At Time Of Dread

Whenever evil befalls us,
we ought to ask ourselves, after the first suffering,

So shall we take occasion, from one bitter root,

~Leigh Hunt

Be Empty & Be Full

Be empty of worrying.
Think of who created thought!

Why do you stay in prison
when the door is so wide open?

Move outside the tangle of fear-thinking.
Live in silence.

Flow down and down in always
widening rings of being.

~Rumi

Forgiveness..

“ Anyone can hold a grudge, but it takes a person with character to forgive.
When you forgive, you release yourself from a painful burden.
Forgiveness doesn’t mean what happened was OK,
and it doesn’t mean that person should still be welcome in your life.
It just means you have made peace with the pain,
and are ready to let it go.”

The Secret Scripture – Sebastian Barry

” The terror and hurt in my story happened because when I was young I thought others were the authors of my fortune or misfortune, I did not know that a person could hold up a wall made of imaginary bricks and mortar against the horrors and cruel, dark tricks of time that assail us, and be the author therefore of themselves. ”

~Sebastian Barry – The Secret Scripture
